Farewell to Manoj Kumar, our invaluable founding member

Practo, as we know it today, is the product of a passionate spark that ignited in the minds and hearts of a small band of professionals 15 years ago. Since then, Practo’s journey has been filled with ebbs and flows, ultimately leading us onto the path of profitability. But today, we are not here to celebrate Practo alone. We are here to celebrate and commemorate an individual, a friend, a colleague and a dynamic leader who helped us build Practo from the ground up over the last 15 years — Manoj Kumar!

Manoj joined Practo as its fifth employee, completing the perfect “pentacle” team that dared to dream of a healthcare revolution where quality care wouldn’t be a luxury and accessibility wouldn’t be a distant dream. From the get-go, Manoj was a force to be reckoned with, a problem-solving extraordinaire for whom no challenge was insurmountable and no dream unattainable. He personified VUPIM and embodied Practo’s core values with every action.

As a leader, Manoj has always been hands-on. He spearheaded the expansion of Ray and Prime, organising go-to-market activities across India and the world. He led the charge into uncharted international territories of Brazil with confidence, establishing a strong foothold for Practo to rise upon. Manoj’s go-getter attitude has always made him an extremely reliable resource and has inspired many to follow suit. Be it in the sales teams he led or the businesses he nurtured, Manoj has always been the mentor par excellence. In fact, his commitment to empowering his teams was so strong that he along with a few others crafted ‘Practo Way of Sales,’ a blue book of wisdom and sales tactics distilled from his own learnings. This guidebook set the tone for all the sales warriors who joined thereafter.

But Manoj’s legacy extends far beyond sales and profit charts. He is a leader with impeccable interpersonal skills and an almost innate ability to build lasting relationships and bonds, internally and externally. His understanding of scale and operations also propelled  him to take reins as Practo’s overall Sales Head, a natural progression for a man with extreme passion and knack.

Business aside, Manoj also progressed over the years to become a dear friend to all those who worked closely with him. He has been and will always be a valued colleague, respected leader, and an inspiring mentor in our organisation.  And this is why, with sadness, we announce that Manoj has decided to bid adieu to Practo and pursue other interests. The void he leaves behind will be impossible to ignore, and the legacy he leaves behind will be hard to fill. His footprints are imprinted across every facet of our organisation, from the success of Ray and Prime to the global reach we’ve achieved, the strong edifice he built will continue to guide us, even when he steps away.

He will never be a “former” colleague but will always be a part of Practo’s success story and we will forever be grateful for his invaluable contribution.

Thank you, Manoj, for all that you have done. We wish you all the very best for the future.
