August 2010 heralded the release of a book on “Medico Legal Aspects for the Dental Professional” authored by Dr.Sandhya Ramanujam(DDS-USA, BDS-India, PGDMLE-USA, CBM-USA,Fellowship in Implantology-USA), published by Jaypee Brothers and which is now being used as a student reference book on Dental Law.After working as a Dental Auditor in the United States and completing her Post Graduation In Medical Law and Ethics from National Law School, Dr. Sandhya Ramanujam found it necessary to write a book on this growing topic.
In today’s consumer conscious world, this book throws light on both Patients Rights as well as Dentists Rights. It is important that the dentist be aware of what is expected of him/her, not just as a clinician but keeping in mind Medico-Legal requirements too. More often than not a majority of the misunderstandings and dissatisfaction’s arise from a lack of clear communication..the book addresses the legal requirements for a dentist as well as real life situations where medico-legal cases have been filed against dentists.It also talks about practices in other countries.
